Ballet

Hip Hop

Tap

A classical form of dance focusing on proper body alignment and fluid movement. Barre, center floor, and across the floor progressions are all used to develop proper Ballet technique. Ballet is the foundation upon which most dance forms are based

 

Ballet I: Recommended for dancers with beginner to intermediate dance experience interested in learning the basics of ballet.

 

Ballet II: Suggested for dancers with previous ballet experience, focus on takinmg basic elemements and expanding on them.

 

Teen Ballet: Created for dancers ages 12 & up at a beginner level of ballet

 

Ballet III: Three years of ballet experience is suggested for this class. Understanding and execution of proper ballet technique is required.

 

Advanced Ballet: Recommended for dancers ages 12 -18 years old. Dancers enrolled at this level should have an extensive ballet background and dance experience.

 

This popular, energetic form of dance, allows dancers to perform with freedom of movement, adding in their own personalities. This class is inspired by today’s latest music and hippest trends in dance.

 

Hip Hop I: Recommended for dancers ages 7-11 years old with minimal or no dance experience.  Grooves and basics of hip hop will be the basis of this class.

 

Hip Hop II:  Recommended for dancers ages 9-12 with prior dance experience, specifically in Hip Hop. Understands body isolations, muscle control and musicality.

 

Teen Hip Hop:  This class is formatted for beginner dancers ages 12-18 with a variety of dance experience.

 

Hip Hop III: Suggested for dancers with at least 3 years of Hip Hop experience focus on isolations, musicality, amd combining styles of hip hop in longer phrases.

 

Intermediate/Advanced Hip Hop:  Suggested for highly experienced dancers with a deep hip hop background. Class will be fast paced and rooted in musicality, choreography, muscle control and isolations.

 

 

Jazz Dance is based on ballet principles. Set to upbeat, popular music, this fun class combines stylized movement with technique. Class consists of warm-up using isolated movements, across the floor progressions, and current choreography combo's.

 

Jazz I: Suggested for beginner dancers with minimum or no dance experience.  A basic knowledge and understanding of body movement and co-ordination is recommended.

 

Jazz II: Recommended for dancers ages 9-12 with prior Ballet or Jazz experience. Understanding and execution of pirouettes, leaps and chainne turns is highly suggested.

 

Teen Jazz: Jazz class created for dancers 12 years old and up with minimal dance experience. Focus on teaching fundamentals of Jazz technique at a faster pace.

 

Jazz III: Recommended for dancers 12-14 years with at least three years of Ballet and Jazz experience. Execution of combining multiple technical elements together. Focus on choreography and putting movement together in longer sequences.

 

Advanced Jazz: Suggested for dancers with adequate Ballet or Jazz technique, training and experience.  Class will be fast paced, and focus on advanced variations of basic Jazz movements/technique.

A style of dance using special shoes to create different rhythmic patterns and sounds. Tap is great for developing musicality and coordination skills. Little to no other style of dance experience is required.

 

Tap I/II: Recommended for dancers ages 6-12 years old with little to no tap experience.  This class will teach the basics of tap and is good for any beginner!

 

Tap III: Recommended for dancers 12 years of age and older with prior tap training.  An understanding of basic tap knowledge is required.

The performance of balance, agility, and motor coordination. Acrobatics is most often associated with activities that make extensive use of gymnastic elements, such as acro dance, circus, and gymnastics, but many other athletic activities.

 

Acro I/II: Suggested for dancers ages 6-12 years of age with little or no tumbling experience. This class will teach basic fundamentals of acrobatics and tumbling.

 

Acro II/III: Recommended for dancers 12-18 years old that have basic knowledge of acrobatics and can complete a variety of tricks including back bends, cartwheels, front rolls etc.

Yoga

You will be guided through a 45-minute Vinyasa (flow of postures) style class which link the postures (asanas) with breath (Pranaymana). This will cultivate heat in your body and create a steady internal rhythm for the practice. This class includes postures that are seated, standing and inverted with challenging variations for more advanced students and modifications to encourage participation of everyone. Class concludes with Mindfulness and breath work techniques to promote relaxation which settles the body and mind.

Levels

Twirl

Strength & Conditioning

A class designated to help all levels of dancers to increase muscular strength by combining an intense full body warm up followed by muscle building drills. This class is designed for dancers looking to increase technique in all aspects of their dancing.

Leaps & Turns

Specialized class focused on Jazz pirouettes, leaps, and jumps. As the premis of most technical dance, turns, leaps and jumps will be the only focus of this class. Across the floor progressions will help dancers improve on these three areas.

 

Leaps & Turns I: focus on single & double pirouettes, pique turns, coupe turns, leaps, center leaps, double posse jumps, back leaps, calypso leaps.

 

Leaps & Turns II/III : Three years of dance experience required. Focus is  on triple & quad pirouettes, fouettes, a la seconde turns, switch leaps, turning disk, switch arabesque, turning/leaping combinations.

Contemporary

Contemporary dance is a style of expressive dance that combines elements of several dance genres including modern, jazz, lyrical, classical ballet and even hip-hop. Contemporary dancers strive to connect the mind and body through their movement.

 

Contemporary I/II : Recommended for dancers ages 7-12 years old with beginner to intermediate dance experience, interested

 

Advanced Contemporary: Recommended for dancers ages 12 -18 years old. Dancers enrolled at this level should have an extensive ballet background and dance experience.

 

I - Ages 6-8 / 1st & 2nd Grade

 

II- Ages 9-11 / 3rd & 4th Grade

 

Teen - Ages 12-14 / 6th - 8th Grade

 

III- Ages 12-14 / 6th- 8th Grade

 

Advanced- Ages 15-18 / 9th-12th Grade

As a reference to help choose the proper class level for your dancer

Momentum is so excited to introduce the fun + fanciful new dance program for toddlers  "TWIRL"- Toddlers With Rhythm and a Love for dance! We will be launching this program in Summer 2018 with "Camp Twirl" and will follow up with weekly classes in our FAll 2018 program. The class is for all recreational toddlers and combines Tap, Ballet, Tumbling, Imagination and creativity in a fun learning environment for dancers ages 3-5 years old! Dancers enrolled in TWIRL will receive an activity packet, a reward ribbon to keep on their dance bag, as well as a Graduation Certificate at the end of the year!

 

It is the perfect class for your tot who can't sit still and just

wants to dance!
