Mini Company 

The youngest of Momentum's Competitive companies, Mini Company is composed of enthusiastic young dancers ages 5-8. Mini dancers represent Momentum Dance Company at national dance competitions and will participate in the annual company concert. These dancers should display a love for dance, enjoy the spotlight, and have the abilty to focus on their dancing!

Requirements

Auditions

  • August 12th-16th : Audition Prep Camp is not required, but parents must have a meeting with Betsy to review and sign Company Handbook policies & turn in Audition Form

  • August 16th:  2:00 pm - required Company Meeting for all auditioning 

  • August 17th:  10 -11am - Auditions (Dancers interested in an extra group dance and/or duet/trio in a style other than Jazz will audition during this time, as well.) 

  • August 18th: 12pm- Company Reveal Day

  • Cost for audition is $230: $30 audition fee,  $200 Jazz Costume fee,  due upon audition registration

 

Minimum Competition Requirements

  • One group Jazz dance

  • One competition (solos, duets, & trios attend three competitions), registration fee for each group dance is $80-95 per dancer

  • One costume, $200 (paid upon audition registration)

 

Minimum Weekly Requirements

  • One weekly Jazz technique class 

  • One weekly Jazz rehearsal

  • Please see the Tuition Chart at the end of the handbook to determine your dancer’s monthly tuition, based on month, how many classes your dancer is taking, and how many total years your dancer has been on Company (the years do not need to be consecutive).

 

Local Performance Requirements

  • Company Concert:  Tech rehearsal January 31st and Shows February 1st - Center Stage Theater

  • End of Year Gala: June 6-8th- Lobero Theatre

The Company: Dance Company

Petite Company

Petite dancer's are between the ages of 8-10 years of age and are strong performers! Petite members are fun and sassy to watch on stage and embody the meaning of "good things come in small packages!" These dancers are committed to becoming the best dancer they can be! We introduce to you...The Petite Company!

Requirements

Auditions:

  • August 12-16th - Audition Prep Camp 9am-2:30pm, $345, register online

    •  Parents must schedule a meeting with Betsy to review and sign Company Handbook policies & submit Audition Form the week of August 12-16th.

  • August 16th - 2:00pm required Company Meeting for all dancers auditioning

  • August 17th - 11am-12pm:  Auditions Ages 8-10 

    • Dancers interested in an extra group dance and/or duet/trio in a style other than Jazz or Hip Hop will audition during this time, as well.

  • August 18th: 12pm  Reveal Day

  • Cost for audition is $245: $45 audition fee, $200 Jazz Costume fee, due upon audition registration

 

Choreography Camp

  • August 30th -September 2nd, times TBD

  • $150 per group dance ($300 for minimum requirements) 

 

Minimum Competition Requirements

  • Two group dances, Jazz & Hip Hop (Lyrical  is an optional third dance)

  • Three competitions-  registration fee for each group dance is $80-95 per dancer. 

  • One convention (classes only)- registration fee approx. $360

  • Nationals-  registration fee for each group dance is $110-120 per dancer

  • Two costumes, $200 each (one is paid upon audition registration, the other is billed September 1)

  • One weekly Jazz technique class 

  • One weekly Hip Hop technique class

  • One weekly Jazz rehearsal

Company Ages 10-13

This company is composed of dancers ages 10-13 years old and have made dance their first priority over all other extra curricular activities.  They represent Momentum Dance Company at national dance competitions, conventions, community and non-community performances.

      • $200 Jazz Costume fee, due upon audition registration

Company Ages 13+ 

Company members ages 13 + are  MDC's prime example of what it means to be a company member. They exude a charisma and passion for dance that is contagious.  They set the example for what other company members should strive for and are continuously working at improving their craft in and out of rehearsals.  This well-rounded group of dancers are powerful in presence, confidence, and commitment.

Additional Duets & Trios 

  • Choreography Fee: $200-250 per dancer, depending on choreographer. Includes up to 10 hours of rehearsals to teach choreography, music selection and edits. Due when choreography rehearsals begin.

  • Costume Fee: $200, due when choreography rehearsals begin

  • Monthly Private Lesson Fee: $45 per dancer, depending on who teaches the private lesson. After the choreography has been taught, the dancer’s account will be charged each month and the dancers  responsible for scheduling the private lesson with the teacher of their choice. 

  • Competition Fee : $70-125 per dancer for 4 competitions  (includes the one convention with competition)

  • Nationals Competition Fee:  $70-100 per dancer 

  • Additional weekly technique class if the dance is in style not currently taking 

  • Additional night(s) at a hotel for competitions 

  • NEW FOR SEASON 11: Duet/Trio will not take priority over an additional group dance. If a dancer is able to compete ONE additional dance in addition to the minimum requirements, and have indicated on the audition form an interest in an additional group dance or duet/trio, Landy and Betsy will determine whether the extra dance is a group dance or a duet/trio. 

Soloists

  • Choreography Fee: $400-500, depending on choreographer. Includes up to 8 hours of rehearsals to teach choreography, music selection and editing.

  • Due when choreography rehearsals begin.

  • Costume Fee: $200 due when choreography rehearsals begin

  • Monthly Private Lesson Fee: $75-85, depending on who teaches the private lesson. After the choreography has been taught, the dancer’s account will be charged each month and the dancer is responsible for scheduling the private lesson with the teacher of their choice. 

  • Competition Fee: $170-230 per competition for 4 competitions  (includes the one convention with competition)

  • Nationals Competition Fee: $250

  • Additional weekly technique class if the dance is in style not currently taking 

  • Additional night(s) at a hotel for competitions 

  • Soloists in Petite Company to Senior Company must compete at least one additional dance (group or duet/trio) to request a solo. 

  • Soloists in Mini Company do not need to be in an additional dance
